the Art of Marianne Maksirisombat | missmarianne.com
I believe in bold, rich color. I construct three-dimensional canvases and form sheet steel to capture the essence of color as an independent form instead of an attribute of another object. The nature of three- dimensional canvas takes my art from a static piece that is observed from a passive stance to a creation that enters the viewers' personal space, and because it is three-dimensional, my work constantly changes based on its interaction with shifting sunlight. The shadows cast onto the wall by my canvas and steel pieces also morph throughout the day.
I also believe that art is an integral part of society that is very often the only surviving historical interpretation that outlasts objective documentation. This is why I found community arts centers, host art classes and encourage art in every day life. Patronage is essential to keeping the arts alive in our times. Instead of going out to dinner twice, call a local artist and have a painting made that you can enjoy and will to the generations after you. I'd be happy to do one for you! Let's all keep the arts vibrant!
